Hey there, friend.
I’m guessing if you are reading this then you are being faced with feelings of discouragement, insecurity, or the nagging feeling that perhaps you are not good enough.
And personally as a Mom?
It can be a near constant struggle for me to not be critical of myself. And even more so to not feel like a failure when I take a look at all the things that DIDN’T get done around my home at the end of a day.
But you know, God does not call us to attach our self worth to our things, our performance, or how much we accomplish in a day. He calls us to recognize that we are loved, valued, and are enough as we are because we are created by Him and we are loved.
So let’s stop attaching our identity to our things, stop attaching it to our parenting skills, stop attaching it to our performance in the workplace or at home, and especially stop attaching it to how we compare ourselves with others.
There is authority in speaking God’s Word TO OUR OWN SOUL when we are faced with these feelings. Because they so clearly do not come from Him. What does God have to say to us when we are down, discouraged, and questioning if we are good enough?
Here are 10 scriptures that speak to my heart when I don’t feel good enough. Give them a read whenever you feel like you need some encouragement to remind you that you are worthy.
You are good enough!
10 Scriptures that Prove You Are Enough
(ESV Translation)
1. Psalm 139:13-15
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.”
It helps me to think of the love I have for my babies, and to recognize while reading this verse that that is how God feels about me. A baby hasn’t done anything to EARN love. Just as we do not earn God’s love. We are simply his.
2. Luke 12:22-24
And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!”
Being stressed about money is so human that Jesus has to specifically tell us to stop worrying about our lives so much. He will provide for us!
3. Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
You are his workmanship; a work of art.
4. 1 John 3:16
“By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.”
You are so cherished that someone would give up their life to save yours.
5. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Stop trying to be so strong all the time! You are meant to draw your strength from Christ, and allow him to shine in your weaknesses.
6. Genesis 1:27
“So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them”
Above all else, your value begins with the fact that you were created by God.
7. Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
God’s thoughts toward you are pure and good.
8. 1 Peter 1:18-19
“Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
You have been redeemed and what Christ has done for you can never be taken away.
9. 2 Corinthians 5:17
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
If you belong to Jesus, you are made new! Your past, mistakes, and flaws do not have to be carried by you for one more second.
10. 1 John 3:1a
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”
God considers you His very own precious child, and God thinks VERY highly of his kids.
I hope you are reminded of your worth as you read these verses. You are so very cherished, and you are most certainly good enough!
